Lower East Side
This up-and-coming and seriously trendy spot still has all the authenticity of a raw New York neighborhood. Packed with bars along it's main drag, Ludlow and Orchard Streets, you will find all sorts of cool and very hip joints, from pubs, to clubs, to live music. Locals, rock stars and uptowners all flock here on Friday and Saturday nights. This is where the "influencers" give birth to the next big thing, in fashion and music - check it out!

    Barramundi
    147 Ludlow St
    212.529.6900
The fairy-lit backyard is never too trendy. This spot is still the real thing. Catch a cocktail here, before heading out for some live music.

    Slipper Room
    167 Orchard St
    212.252.7246
This Orchard Street spot adds a dash of genuine show-biz glitz to the local bar scene - they make great cocktails and enjoy the cabaret show, complete with female go-go dancers.

    Arlene Grocery
    95 Stanton St
    212.358.1633
This is where tomorrow's major musicians are playing now. Named for the actual Lower East Side market that it replaced, Arlene Grocery runs as many as eight groups a night through its top-notch sound system. Most shows are free; others cost $3.

    Sapphire
    249 Eldridge St
    212.777.5153
For late, late night dancing in the Lower East Side, this is the place! Friendly and unpretentious, it's an old-school lounge that's like a party in your living room.

East Village
10 years ago, this neighborhood was off limits to most late night wanderers and tourists. Now, gentrification, for better or worse, has dramatically altered its landscape. It is a trendy haven for artists and writers, where weekend warriors as far away as uptown Manhattan to all of the boroughs, come to get down with what's hot.
From 14th St down to Houston, from 1st Ave to Ave C, here are some, of the too-many-to-mention, nighttime haunts:

    d.b.a
    41 1st Ave
    212.475.5097
With 130 or so brews as well as 130 single-malt Scotches, 50 tequilas and one of the nicest staffs this side of town, this is THE place for beer and scotch drinkers. A curious mix of downtown hipsterdom, uptown chic and English pub, this spacious bar is only half as popular as its busy open-air garden.

    Lit
    93 2nd Ave
    212.777-7987
A tell-tale sign of the sweeping gentrification, this new "hot spot" has art, bar and a handful of stars.

    Baraza
    133 Ave C
    212.539.0811
All the way over on Avenue C, and completely non-descript on the outside, you wouldn't guess how hot it can be inside. Always energetic and full of a great fun vibe, this is a perfect place to grab hold of your second wind.

    Alphabet Lounge
    104 Ave C
    212.780.0202
This hole-in-the-wall lounge provides a homey alternative for those who love to dance - go late, and when they have terrific 80's style dj. This is where Drew Barrymore and other angels are known to hang out.

Meatpacking District
Just south of 14th St and west of 6th Ave you'll find, nestled among meat warehouses and on cobblestone streets, some of the best late night club spots in the entire city.

    Pastis
    9 Ninth Ave
    212.929.4844
It's a bustling French restaurant, but the bar here is a good place to start an evening - to watch and be watched.

    APT
West 13th St. (and just ask folks on the street where it is)
Every New Yorker knows that when you find a good apartment, you keep it to yourself. The owners of this find, created to look just like a good-sized New York apartment, are guarding it closely, going so far as to insist on no photos, no published address and no phone listing. Be in the upstairs apartment or be elsewhere, and enjoy the mystery trail.

    Hogs and Heifers
    859 Washington St
    212.929.0655
Young suits and old bikers brush shoulders in drunken anticipation of a cheap thrill, at this old school bar. Sometimes the bikini-clad barmaids rev the energy up too high, so go if you're in the mood for a loud honky tonk experience.

    Centro Fly
    45 W 21st St
    212.307.7171
This club is still hot, and looks like it's here for years to come. Popping black-and-white geometric patterns set the stage for an often-dazzling club scene.
